History

In the spring of 1986, Armand Desharnais ventured out to tap a few Manitoba maple trees on the museum grounds. Much to his delight, clear maple water dripped out, producing fine syrup. With the help of volunteers, this slowly expanded into an annual Sugaring-Off Festival in April. To keep the tradition alive, the museum is fundraising to purchase maple trees to plant on the museum ground.s
